You may be wondering what really is the difference between IQ and EQ...
IQ is a measure of one's analytical, logical, intellectual and rational abilities. It's related to how we learn new things, focus on tasks, solve problems, etc.
EQ is a measure of non-cognitive capabilities and skills that influence our ability to succeed in coping with environmental demands. It's the ability to perceive emotions and to regulate emotions for personal and intellectual growth.
Emotional Intelligence is a set of emotional and social skills that influence how we perceive and express ourselves, develop and maintain relationships, cope with challenges and use the knowledge of our emotions to be more effective.
In other words, it's influencing our performance and development. It's a set of skills that enables us to make our way in this complex world!
Emotional intelligence is not fixed. Age, gender, nor ethnic backgrounds do not deter you from enhancing your EQ. The skills can be improved and strengthened, to greater your chances for success. The stronger your emotional intelligence, the more likely you are to be successful as a worker, a parent, a leader and a partner. It's never too late to make a change for the better!
